Julep: Complimentary Colors

Hihi! I hope you are all doing great today! I had quite the wakeup call this morning, lol. After I get the kids off to school I normally go back to bed for a couple hours. I was snoozing pretty good when the school, called and didn’t get woke up in time to answer.

I instantly went into panic mode calling the school back 100 times, but it stayed busy. I was so worried one of my kids needed me. Finally after 30 minutes of trying I checked the voicemail…Sis was getting out of school at 10am because they have no heat. I felt like a moron for not checking my msgs sooner.

Today I am doing a Complimentary Colors Color Wheel Challenge.

The compliment of each primary color (red, blue, or yellow) is roughly the color made by mixing the other two colors.

  • Red complements (blue + yellow) =green
  • Blue complements (red + yellow) =orange
  • Yellow complements (red + blue) =violet

When placed next to each other, complimentary colors make each other appear brighter.

My colors for this challenge are Julep Misha & Melanie. Melanie is a medium blue metallic/frost. It did have some brush strokes, so I sponged on my final layer. Mischa is a gorgeous orange/red glassfleck, which was kinda sheer, so I sponged a bit of white on the areas I planned to put it.

I know a little about the color wheel, but never realized how truthful the color theories were. These two polishes were gorgeous on their own, but when used together like this both really popped.

Be sure to check out Julep’s polishes or the maven program.

Have you tried a complimentary color mani? What colors would you choose for one?

Hope you guys have an amazing evening!~Toodles!!!
